Well this was the first Nancy Drew game that I ever got and I was about oh 10 when I got it. This then starts nancy's instinct to find out who did it. ^_^Graphics: The graphics are not as good as the newer games but that happens with every game, but back to this game. over all in the graphics area it's great.Gameplay: The game play is pretty simple ((a rough draft of the story line)) Nancy Drew ((the main character and also the person you will be playing as)) Is visiting Katty Firestone ((a friend of Nancy's friends Bess and Gorge)) for the week.
At the cafe you can, right you guessed it EAT ((WOO.).). This leads to puzzle,((WOO).) exploring, talking to people and playing some games in the game. Other then that it's really good.Places: You can go to 4 different places ((Katty's boat, The light house, The cafe and a little game slash souveniar shop).) Each place has lots of stuff you can such as at Katty's boat u can make food for your self to eat. At the light house u can wonder around and find clams and crabs.over all it's a really good game thats fun, fun and you guessed it again fun. At the game slash souveniar shop u can play about 5 to 6 games and also learn about sea animals. After about 20 minutes of playing it I loved it.
Well thats a rough draft of the story line.Sound: The sound is great but sometimes for me it was slow and took a few seconds to.become hearable. I would buy it for anyone who loves puzzles or who loves to learn. It has some rough areas every here and there and sometimes may leave an after image but it doesn't happen very often. When you get there her boat has been messed with O_O.
But sometimes you don't have a signal which is realistic but annoying. The mystery is fun, too, as everyone has a motive to have vandalized Katie's boat. The puzzles in this game are kind of hard, and they require patience and logic. Don't let that discourage you from getting it, though. She sets to work repairing it as you question suspects to find out that a whale recently spotted in the water might be what has driven someone to wrecking Katie's boat.Graphics-In this game, they were a little hazy, but that works perfectly with the story, as the island you are on is foggy year round. This is one of the best games in the series, I think, but there are just a few tiny issues I have with it, and therefore, I can not give it 5 stars. However, this what I thought of it.Story-Bess and George have arranged for you to vacation with one of George's friends, in a place called Snake Horse Harbor. It's rather lazy music.
As in the last game you have your cell phone to call people whenever you have a signal. Length-The game lasted me a few weeks, but I think playing it straight through takes about 10 hours. This is a near perfect game, but because of just a few flaws I have to take a star away. As in the title, I DID NOT like all the coordinations that you have to find in this game. This is a must have for fans of the series. Not fun.Fun-Other than that, the game's puzzles are really quite fun in spite of their difficulty. Pretty much makes you think you can just take your time with this mystery. You have a GPS, and it seems every challenge is to find a new coordinate. She owns a whale watching tour business, and when you arrive you find out that someone has vandalized her boat.
This makes the game last a little bit longer. Although you can die, it's usually from stupidity on your part and not because someone attacked you or something.Gameplay-The third person point-and-click hasn't changed, and neither has your cell phone. The characters were pretty much the same as the last game.Sound-The music is not that upbeat. And you can.
This is beyond a doubt the Nancy Drew game that killed me the most, and I do not consider that a good thing. But you get to a point where you're communicating directly on the phone with the person giving you some of these puzzles, and she refuses to tell you point blank what she wants, insisting that you must run hither, thither, and yon at her command, and thus keeping you from solving the mystery. It gets a little old, particularly when you want to run off and explore a new clue, so you click on transportation only to die and then have to reload. I may as well finish up with the one other bad point, the puzzles.
The mystery was well-crafted, and the suspects are well developed and diversely modeled. Consider it a personality quirk, but I don't do pointless tasks in real life, and I don't consider them fun to do as part of a story in a game either. The Whale World exhibit was beautiful and informative. I would have preferred more intereaction with them, but what did occur was good. The kayaking landscapes were also beautiful. Nancy apparently can't even ride a bike or kayak unless you remind her every time to put her safety gear on.
I lost all interest in completing that series of puzzles, and read the answers on a walkthrough so that I could get BACK to the mystery, which is the whole point of the game so far as I am concerned. Now to the positives: I'm not normally a science buff, but I enjoyed looking at samples under a microscope and describing them. And this is definitely the game to get for children interested in marine life or sailing. The ending is very suspenseful, but a lot of it is left to chance (read reloading). Some of them were quite good.
But, I noticed, this game is #9 and Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake is #7. I do love the ND games. When you think of how many games are in the Nancy Drew series (19 now and one being released in July), there's bound to be a few that are not up to par with the others. I liked Ghost Dogs. Deception Island just didn't make it to my top 7. I thought it was because the further back I went, the games just didn't seem as good because of technology or whatever.
causes us to give each other high a fives and hugs. It was awesome. We are on Haunted Mansion right now. Lots of fun.
This was our first time with the PC game. Enjoy. The excitement of discovering clues, finding keys etc. (Me 40+ and daughter 10+ yr old).
Very addicting. We sure do. I was worried at first because my daughter choose to do the Senior Detective. We had a notebook and took notes throughout the game.
